Dear Friend,

Pack members are extra special here at DBL, and we hope you enjoy taking a peek behind the scenes and seeing the impact of your support. It's an exciting time at DBL with our Northeast bringing many new opportunities for growth, and you're among the first to hear this news - we're expecting! We are getting ready for a brand new litter of puppies to be born in just a matter of days. We can't wait to meet these future Assistance Dogs in training!

Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Bryan Williams
CEO, Dogs for Better Lives

RUBY UPDATE

We introduced you to Ruby last month, a lovely yellow lab pup who has been working to become an Assistance Dog. All DBL puppies enter training with extreme optimism and hope that they will succeed. DBL sets the highest standards of health and behavior for all of our dogs, so the clients only receive the best matches, thus producing the best teams. Some of our pups do not achieve the high standards we set. Sometimes it's due to temperament, but it can also be physical.

Ruby has been outstanding in every way since she came to us, but chronic physical issues have become insurmountable and have interrupted her training. We also have felt she is a little too independent for this type of job and have made the difficult decision to "career change" her from training to best protect our limited resources.

Career Change Dogs have chosen a different “career” path of fun and leisure as a pet. Yes, PET is a valid career choice!

Kim Hyde, West Training Director at DBL said, "We are very optimistic that she will make an excellent playmate and pet for someone and already are reviewing adoption applications for her. Just like humans, sometimes dogs fit in better with a different path in life and we are incredibly proud of Ruby and her accomplishments. We wish her happy tails in her next forever home!"
