Dear Friend,

Happy August! I'm thrilled to share that we welcomed 11 new members of The Pack last month! The Pack continues to grow and make meaningful contributions in support of our mission. Know that with each month that passes, we are hard at work training our dogs, placing Assistance Dogs with new and successor clients, and offering continued training and support to our current clients. You make all of this possible.

Thank you for your continued monthly support! You are truly making a difference in the lives of many.

Sincerely,

Bryan Williams
CEO, Dogs for Better Lives

EMERALD UPDATE

Update from Emerald - Assistance Dog in Training

In July we introduced you to Emerald and her Puppy Raisers, Megan and Claire. Emerald just turned 4 months old and is doing great with her puppy training.

"Claire has been working hard to take Emerald on her outings and to introduce her to different noises. Emerald discovered this month that she loves the water! She loves to play when we spray the hose, and also loves to swim in the pool. Emerald loves everyone that she meets and is a very happy girl!" said Megan.

Emerald has been having lots of new experiences that help her build confidence, like being near opening and closing washer and dryer doors, moving shopping carts, and noisy toys. She has also been working on settling in public environments.

We'll be back next month for updates on Emerald's training journey!

Welcome to Training, Frosty & Fiona!

Our Northeast Campus had our first puppies return to campus for training! DBL soon-to-be Assistance Dogs in Training Fiona and Frosty were both turned into the Falmouth Facility this month by their Puppy Raisers. Fiona and Frosty are settling in and beginning their training journey. We are so excited to have dogs training on both the west and east coasts!

Tesla Placement Update

Tesla and NoniWe recently placed Hearing Assistance Dog Tesla with Noni. Tesla went through hundreds of hours of training, all with the goal of one day giving Noni more independence and safety.

Tesla is Noni’s third dog from Dogs for Better Lives. She recently lost her beloved “Glitter” so was over the moon to receive Miss Tesla. Tesla is working oven timer, doorbell, cell phone, landline phone, smoke alarm, RV smoke alarm, and door knocks in the RV.

Tesla has changed Noni’s life in so many ways. Noni feels more comfortable and confident going out and is planning an RV trip, which she hasn’t felt comfortable doing since she lost her last dog.

Our dogs on both campuses have experienced a hot summer. They are staying cool thanks to splash pads, pools, and breaks indoors and in the shade. Pictured at the right are Assistance Dogs in Training Archie and Huey cooling off on the West Campus.
