Behind-the-scenes update on all the happenings at DBL, plus an update from future Service Dog Rocky
July 2025 Pack Email Header

Dear Friend,

Because of your loyal support as a Pack Member, two very special dogs and one dedicated trainer just reached an incredible milestone at our Northeast Campus.

Kane joined the Dogs for Better Lives team just six months ago as an Apprentice Trainer at our Falmouth, Massachusetts campus.

Since then, he’s poured his heart into training and has now successfully guided his first two dogs to certification. Star, a sweet and intuitive dog raised by one of our New England Puppy Raisers, will go on to work as an Autism Assistance Dog. Hayes, a graduate of our Prison Puppy Raising Program, is officially the very first Certified Hearing Dog to come out of our Northeast Campus since it became a full-time training facility!

These incredible accomplishments wouldn’t be possible without your support. Your monthly commitment as a member of The Pack helps fund life-changing placements.

On behalf of the entire team—thank you for making this work possible.

With deep gratitude,

Bryan Williams
CEO, Dogs for Better Lives

🎉 Welcome to our newest Pack Members! 🎉

ROCKY'S UPDATE

JULY25ROCKY

It's time for a pup-date from Rocky!

June was another impressive month for Rocky as he advances through professional training at DBL’s West Campus with Certified Assistance Dog Trainer, Eli. Rocky has now mastered his foundational sound alerts and is moving on to real-life scenarios—an exciting next step in preparing to serve his future partner with confidence and skill!

“Rocky continues to wow this month,” shared Eli. “He’s flying through soundwork and practicing real-life situations, like alerting when a phone rings while I’m doing dishes, or responding to a smoke alarm while I’m asleep. These moments teach Rocky to work independently and respond reliably, no matter what’s happening around him.”

Training Adventure
Rocky has also begun responding to important public sounds like keys dropping or someone calling out. These skills are critical to supporting his future client in busy or distracting environments. Out in public, Rocky remains calm, focused, and confident. These qualities will make him a wonderful partner in everyday life.

Check back next month for another update from Rocky!

Facility Dog Deacon Update

Celebrating 3 amazing years of teamwork with Facility Dog Deacon and Rosie! This rock-solid duo continues to shine in the classroom, where Deacon is more than just a Facility Dog, he’s a trusted teammate. Rosie shared that Deacon has a special gift for sensing when students need a little extra love, often offering his head for a comforting pet at just the right moment. With tasks like lap, visit, touch, settle, and even high-five, Deacon brings a steady, calming presence that benefits students and staff alike. He’s truly become an irreplaceable part of the school community.

DBL's Breeding Program Welcomes Puppies

Our DBL Breeding Program is growing! Since April, 23 puppies have been welcomed into the world across four litters—including proud Breeder Dog Dove (pictured). These future Service Dogs head to their Puppy Raisers at 8 weeks of age, who play a critical role in their early development. Puppy Raisers help lay the foundation for each dog’s success—and we provide all the training and support needed! If you or someone you know is ready to make a life-changing impact, we’d love to connect! Learn more and apply.

BPO Does Support Continues

The incredible BPO Does have once again shown their heartfelt support for our mission with a generous $10,000 gift! We were honored to join their annual conference, where Puppy Raiser Jessica and 9-month-old Charity, whom the Does named last year, made a special appearance. Seeing Charity in person was a full-circle moment for these dedicated supporters, and we’re so grateful for their continued passion and generosity.

Training Fun in the Dog Days of Summer

When summer temps rise, our Service Dogs in Training know just how to cool down! Sandy and Rudy took a well-deserved break from training to splash around in their favorite warm-weather retreat: the kiddie pool. Whether it’s learning new cues or lounging in the water, these future Assistance Dogs are soaking up every experience on their journey to change lives.
