Behind-the-scenes update on all the happenings at DBL, plus an update from future Service Dog, Halligan
March26_Pack Email Header

Dear Friend,

Your decision to be a member of The Pack reflects a belief in showing up—steadily, compassionately, and with heart—and we are deeply grateful for the care and hope you bring to our clients and their dogs, today and for a lifetime.

Because of your generosity, stories like Jessi and Warrick’s are possible.

Just before the holidays, Certified Hearing Dog Warrick was placed with Jessi in Colorado, and from the very first meeting, it was clear they were meant to be together.

With the support of dependable monthly donations like yours, Warrick received the expert training needed to alert Jessi to critical sounds—alarms, doorbells, name calls, and dropped items—both at home and in public.

He settled seamlessly into Jessi’s life, from enjoying quiet moments at home to confidently navigating a local bus ride, calmly tucked at her feet.

With sincere appreciation,

Bryan Williams
CEO, Dogs for Better Lives

HALLIGAN'S PUP-DATE

Halligan 326

Halligan is settling into a steady (and adorable!) stage of growth. Jill, his Puppy Raiser, shares, “Halligan’s growth seems to have slowed this month. I expect him to top off at 60+ pounds and he still runs like a puppy.” No matter his size, she says, “He’s a very happy boy.”

Public Adventures

Out and about, Halligan continues to shine. “We have been to several stores where he keeps an eye on me while we are walking,” Jill notes, earning treats for his good behavior. This month also brought a new milestone — his first elevator ride! “We’ll make sure he has some more trips before he leaves me,” she adds.

Training Success

At home and in training, Halligan remains a star. “He comes when I call him, even walks backward when I ask,” Jill shares. He offers a polite shake only when invited and is “very responsive to hand signals even when I don’t use words.”

As Jill says best, “Halligan is a pleasure to work with… He’s going to do fine!"

Stay tuned for the next update on Halligan’s journey!

From Shelter to Service Dog Program Growth

Our staff is growing in Dallas and Atlanta to support our From Shelter to Service Dog Program. Each location now has two dedicated staff members training dogs and managing local fosters with Atlanta Humane and Operation Kindness. This expanded team means we can train even more shelter dogs for life-changing service work.

One of our biggest needs for this program is fosters in Atlanta and Dallas. If you know someone in those locations who may be interested in fostering, please share the program with them. Learn more about the program.

Snow Much Fun!

Our Service Dogs in training at the West and Northeast campuses recently enjoyed a well-earned training break—snow included. Romping outside gave them a chance to reset.

While it's been a long winter—especially for our Northeast campus, the dogs love showing us just how much fun the snow can be!
