Dear Friend,
I typically use this letter to share a story that has touched our team, but this month I’m sharing some personal news. I will be stepping down as CEO of Dogs for Better Lives on April 30th as my family and I relocate to Florida to be closer to loved ones. This was not an easy decision, because serving this mission—and incredible supporters like you—has been a true honor. DBL is in a strong position, with solid financial reserves and a clear strategic path forward, which gives me tremendous confidence as I prepare for this transition.
Our Board has already launched a thoughtful national search for the organization’s next leader, supported by a transition and search committee and an experienced recruiting firm. During this period, our Leadership Team will continue guiding day‑to‑day operations. I’m confident the organization is in steady, capable hands.
As a monthly donor, your support remains vital. Together we’ve made meaningful impact, and that momentum will continue. I’m deeply grateful for your commitment to the mission and for standing with DBL as the organization enters its next chapter.
With sincere appreciation,
Bryan Williams CEO, Dogs for Better Lives

| | | Halligan is maturing into one handsome and capable young dog. Jill, his Puppy Raiser, shares, "Halligan is 10 months old and has just about stopped growing at 60 pounds." While he may look quite grown up, she adds, "He is still a puppy at heart and a very sweet boy." With professional training beginning in just a couple of months, Halligan is getting ready to show all that he has learned.
Everyday Adventures
Halligan continues to impress during outings and everyday experiences. "We have had several trips to his favorite store, Costco, where Halligan has his eyes on me most of the time," Jill says, noting that the pet aisle can still be a bit of a challenge. He also accompanied her to a doctor’s appointment, where he laid quietly at Jill's feet. A visit to In-N-Out Burger was another success, with Halligan remaining quietly under the table throughout the meal.
Training Progress
Halligan is showing how much he has grown in both focus and maturity. "A high energy young pup can mature into a dog who is focused on learning," Jill reflects. His steady progress and willingness to work have been a joy to see. As Jill prepares to return him to DBL on May 15th, following Bone AppeTREAT, she shares, "I know I will be proud to return him so he can continue on his mission."
Stay tuned for the next update on Halligan’s journey! |
